"ULTIMA THULE"

VANCOUVER 27 for sale  $39,500

Lying British Columbia, Canada

Ultima Thule, a legendary Vancouver 27, is an affordable Bluewater and coastal cruiser in a small, sturdy and extremely seaworthy package. The Vancouver 27s built by Seair Marine of Vancouver were designed to be excellent sea boats; overbuilt and able to withstand the worse that the ocean can throw at it, yet with 6’3” headroom and extensive teak interior, it is a comfortable live aboard designed for extended voyaging.

Ultima Thule has been to the South Pacific and sailed extensively in the Pacific Northwest including the Inside Passage (including Haida Gwaii); circumnavigated Vancouver Island; and been to most of the gunkholing favourites found within the Salish Sea, San Juans and Desolation Sound. With its rugged construction, she sports, oversized rigging and deck equipment; a sturdy mast with steps for easy ascending; is cutter rigged with two headsails (but can be sailed as a schooner); and has a long keel with encapsulated ballast. All this makes for stability and reassurance in all weather.

Many Vancouver 27s have circumnavigated with trade wind sailing reported to be 100-120 nautical miles per day and happily weathering 50 plus knots in before the wind sailing. While having berths for three, the Vancouver 27 were primary designed as a two person sailing vessel with two single berths port and starboard and another on the aft settee. The boat is easily single handed.

Ultima Thule has seen considerable upgrades worth over $30,000 in recent years including a new Yanmar 2YM15 15HP diesel engine in 2019 (1000 hours at present); new ICOM VHF radio (DFC) 2019; a professionally installed and certified propane system including Force Ten galley stove on gimbals along with a Dickinson cabin heater in 2020; new dodger and sail covers in 2020; new Ritchie Bulkhead BN-202 Compass in 2020; and new hull paint in 2021.

Ultima Thule was the focus of an article in the September/October( Issue 152) of Good Old Boat Magazine: Vancouver 27: A Bluewater Cruiser in a Small Package by Bert Vermeer Other good sources of info on the Vancouver 27 is Vancouver Yachts Association at:
